Oslo, Nor. - Two teams met to battle for Oslo and U19 supremacy as the Vålerenga Trolls defeated the Oslo Vikings with the score of 0 - 9 at Jordal Kunstgress Sunday afternoon.
In a series dating back to last season where the Vålerenga Trolls have come up strong against the Oslo Vikings, a close defensive battle made sure the Trolls kept the ongoing streak alive with a marginal victory.
A game where both teams needed one big play to take a much needed victory home, the Trolls forced a favored situation with a turnover inside the Vikings red zone, scoring a tuchdown on the insuing offensive drive, having led by a safety earlier in the game.
"Both teams seemed to have problems establishing their offensive presence in this game. Our offense needs more work and coordination on the offensive line, and we need to get rid of the ball, before ending up in difficult situations." Coach Nicholay Falch Knudsen said.
Despite falling to the Trolls, there were players and parts of the game the coaches feel still is headed in the right direction.
"In this game we used Quarterback Daniel Ofoghi just about anywhere on the field. He did a fenomenal job, and has the ability to take on any task we need him to perform." Coach Knudsen said.
"I also want to recognize the Vikings Defense for holding on with some heavy lifting at times to keep the game from getting out of hand." Knudsen added.
"A nice surprise on the offensive side of the ball was to see offensive lineman Victor Haugen Kristiansen who stepped up and showed great character and grit, trying to help the offense move the ball." Coach Sezer said.
Going into their one week BYE, the Vikings will have time to address their primary issues before heading south to Tønsberg to face the Tønsberg Raiders.
The game will take place on Saturday Sept. 24th in Tønsberg at 14:00. Location TBD. Admission will be free!
