OSLO VIKINGS AFC
Since our founding in 1986, American football and the Vikings have experienced explosive growth in popularity here in Norway. In 1989, we fielded our first youth team, and since 1994 our Senior team has been competing on the international stage. Our programs offer players a unique team environment to rival that of traditional Norwegian sports such as football and handball. As a result, we attract a unique group of passionate athletes and spectators.
Today, we field over 65 youth and 80 senior players across 4 teams, all of which call Frogner Stadium their home. In the Spring, you will find our Senior and U17 teams competing against the best Norway has to offer while our U14 and Division 2 teams battle in out in the Fall.
Our home stadium, positioned between Majorstuen and Frogner Park, affords us exceptional visibility, enabling us to reach a constant stream of passing, curious spectators at every home game. On average, we draw 400 ticketholders at Senior games and experienced a record, 1100 ticketholders on May 16th 2014. Even our Junior games typically attract more fans than most other amateur sporting events in Norway. Without shame, as Vikings, we believe we are among the most adept at creating a good atmosphere and show on game days!
The Oslo Vikings’ reach doesn’t stop when you leave the field. Through our dedicated digital marketing efforts, we’ve been able to build a community of over 10,000 followers on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok and we’ve recently launched live streaming for our fans abroad. Our first broadcasted game enjoyed over 700 simultaneous viewers and reached over 16,000 people from the Nordics, Continental Europe, and North America.
