OVERVIEW

Founded in 1986, the Oslo Vikings are members of the Norwegian American Football and Cheerleading Federation and the European Federation of American Football. In addition, the Vikings are members of both the Norwegian National Federation of Sports and the Oslo City Sports Association.

As Vikings we continually aspire to make our sports program attractive to all types of players, both elite and novice, and both large and small. During recent years, we have made a concerted effort to increase the access of our programs, especially in our youth program where we believe we are uniquely equipped to offer athletic activities and organizational support that alternative sports cannot provide. We enable players that often do not perfectly fit the mold of usual Norwegian sports such as Soccer or Handball to participate in an athletically challenging, competitive team environment that is exceptionally rewarding and most importantly, fun!

In our efforts to serve our players and community we are an organization that is committed to continuous development and, as such, believe there is always room to improve our player offering and our reach within the greater community.

Leading the club’s efforts, is our highest governing body, the board of directors (Styre), which is comprised of ten volunteers elected annually for one-year terms during the annual members meeting. The board, led by an elected President (Leder), is responsible for day-to- day administration, football operations, the annual budget, and long-term planning for the club.

Reporting to the board, are a senior department led by the club’s Head Coach and a junior department led by the Junior Manager. The junior department consists of separate U13 (10-13), U16 (14-16) and U19 (17-19) teams.

The Viqueens Cheerleading and Cheerdance Club is associated with the Vikings, but controlled and operated by a separate board and organization.
