Vikings win 4th straight
This past weekend, the Oslo Vikings Elite team turned in another shutout victory over the Åsane Seahawks. The final score was 38-0 for the home team. It was a highly anticipated match between two 3-0 teams.
The match started slow on the offensive side of the ball for boths teams. Both Offenses were trying to get a feel for the opposing defences. The Vikings got on the board first with a 35 yard field goal from kicker Vegard Tysse early in the second quarter. The Vikings Offense followed that score with a beautiful 45 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Mehmet Sezer to receiver Eric Ford. Following the first touchdown of the game, that same combo Sezer to Ford hooked up again on a 10 yard slant pattern to make the score 17-0 for the Vikings.
With the Vikings next possession, the Offense was set up with great field position from a wonderful punt return from Eric Ford. With the first play of the drive, from the Seahawks 25 yard line quarterback Mehmet Sezer delivered his third touchdown pass of the game to receiver Pål Wulff. That put the score to 24-0 for the Vikings going into halftime.
In the second half, the Vikings running game saw a bright spot with a 55 yard touchdown run from running back Lorenzo Proctor. That pushed the lead to 31-0 for the Vikings. In the fourth quarter, quarterback Sezer capped off the day with his fourth touchdown pass to wide receiver Bror Jahre on a 15 yard strike to the end zone. Putting the home to up 38-0.
As for the Vikings Defense, they played lights out football the entire game. Giving the opponent little to work with in the run or passing game. This marks the third straight shutout for the Vikings. Allowing 0 total points for the last three games.
The defense was lead up front by their D line, who made the opposing quarterbacks day a tough one in and outside the pocket. Defensive end Thomas Sundby made his return from injury with multiple quarterback sacks. Magnus Kinne, Aleksander Andric, Alexander Nilsen all had multiple plays throughout the match letting it known they were going to win the battle in the trenches.
With the linebacker pair of Andreas Lid and Kim Schaanning patrolling the field, there was not many plays to be made in the back end with having to come up and make tackles. This pairing has continued to be rock solid the entire season, eating up the run game and linebacker Kim Schaanning even turned in an interception early in the second quarter.
The Vikings defensive backs did their job the entire game and locked down all Åsane receivers. There was no big plays to be had in the passing game. Corner Eric Ford got the second interception of the match early in the fourth quarter when the Seahawks were knocking on the Vikings door!
With the win, it brings the Oslo Vikings record to 4-0 and in soul position of 1st place in the series. The next game will be Saturday June 10th against the 1-4 Lura Bulls 14:00 @ Frogner stadium!
This match proves to be a tough one for the Vikings. The Lura Bulls put up 21 points vs the Vikings in the opening match of the season.
We look forward to seeing you all out there and cheering us on!!
Go Vikings!
